Job Description

We are seeking an experienced Kafka Architect to design, implement, and optimize enterprise-level streaming solutions. The ideal candidate will bring deep expertise in Apache Kafka architecture, real-time data pipelines, and event-driven systems, with a strong ability to collaborate across development, operations, and business teams. This role will be responsible for defining architecture standards, ensuring scalability, security, and performance of Kafka clusters, and providing thought leadership on streaming and messaging solutions.

Key Responsibilities

✦ Architect, design, and implement scalable and resilient Kafka-based streaming solutions.
✦ Define standards, best practices, and governance models for Kafka usage across the organization.
✦ Collaborate with engineering, DevOps, and business teams to gather requirements and deliver effective data streaming solutions.
✦ Oversee deployment, monitoring, and troubleshooting of Kafka clusters in on-premises and cloud environments.
✦ Ensure data security, compliance, and governance for streaming data pipelines.
✦ Optimize system performance, capacity planning, and monitoring of Kafka infrastructure.
✦ Lead migration or modernization initiatives from legacy messaging systems to Kafka.
✦ Provide technical guidance and mentorship to development teams on Kafka-based designs and implementations.
✦ Collaborate with cloud teams (AWS, Azure, or GCP) for integration and scalability.
✦ Document architectural decisions, design diagrams, and provide technical roadmaps.

Required Qualifications

✔ Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Computer Science, Engineering, or a related field.
✔ 8+ years of IT experience, with at least 4+ years of hands-on Kafka experience.
✔ Proven expertise in Kafka architecture, cluster design, replication, partitioning, and high availability.
✔ Experience with Kafka Connect, Kafka Streams, Schema Registry, and Confluent platform.
✔ Strong understanding of event-driven architecture, microservices, and real-time data pipelines.
✔ Hands-on experience with DevOps tools (Docker, Kubernetes, CI/CD, Terraform, Ansible, etc.).
✔ Knowledge of cloud platforms (AWS MSK, Azure Event Hubs, GCP Pub/Sub).
✔ Strong skills in Java, Python, or Scala for building streaming applications.
✔ Familiarity with security and compliance practices (Kerberos, SSL, RBAC, etc.).
✔ Excellent problem-solving, communication, and leadership skills.
